Meet the Spring 2021 Mansfield ISD Board of Trustee Candidates

There are 3 seats on the Mansfield ISD Board of Trustees up for election. The election will take place on Saturday May 1, 2021.

Seats are available for Place 1 and Place 2 (term expires 2024) as well as Place 4 (term expires 2022).

  • Place 1 has three candidates running: Godson Onwubiko, Jr., Michelle Newsom, Kenneth J. Chalk

  • Place 2 has four candidates running: Desiree Thomas, Yolanda McPherson, Philip DeGroat, and Theresa Okoro.

  • Place 4 has seven candidates running: Corinne Fiagome, Christine Beason, Meagan Sutton, Denise Lunski, Kevin Robedee, Keziah Valdes Farrar, and Brad Crane.

Mansfield ISD GTPAC posed several questions to each of the candidates running. The questions were:

  1. Tell us a little about yourself and why you've decided to run for a school board position.

  2. What unique qualities would you bring to the school board?

  3. How have you been involved with Mansfield ISD prior to running for school board?

  4. What do you see as the biggest challenges for the district in the next five years?

  5. How important is serving the needs of gifted students? Why?

  6. How does Mansfield ISD currently serve gifted students and how does that compare to other districts?
